The Start of Something New: The New Vainu App

It’s always exciting (and nerve-wracking) to unveil something you’ve been working on for a long time. And one of the things we’ve been focused on for the past couple of years is the new Vainu App. It’s essentially the Vainu Platform that you (may) know and (may) love but improved!

We’re not releasing the platform all by itself, however. We’re also releasing a bunch of new things alongside it. Here’s what we’ll be getting into in this product release blog:

  • The new platform
  • New datasets
  • CRM Connectors
  • Usage-based pricing

The new platform

Although each version of Vainu will always have a place in our hearts, it was time for us to fix some things in the backend, hence the new platform.

We won’t be going into detail about everything we fixed, but we will tell you what it means for you!

PS. our new platform will replace the old one—over time. That means we won’t force customers to migrate to the new platform any time soon. That being said, we’ll only be developing the new Vainu App, so if you want access to our latest features, that’s the place to be.

Please note that existing customers will have to agree to new terms and conditions to get access to the platform.

New User Interface

We completely redesigned the platform!

Our goal was to simplify and unify the User Interface to better represent what we offer clients: Actionable and reliable business data.

The main task of the renewed UI is to provide our users with an easy-to-use company search engine for the effortless discovery of relevant business-critical company information about markets, customers, and competitors.

UI1

Improved Filtering

We’ve invested significant time in creating our new filter architecture. Most of this work won’t be visible on the platform UI, but it’s hard at work in the background.

What this means for you: We’ll be able to develop new filters in the UI faster as our databases expand with new data sets without compromising the platform's speed or usability.

Also, the filtering logic has been further refined, and the UI more clearly reflects the different search combinations by displaying the used criteria in a sentence format.

Filters1

Downloading data to a file

We’ve changed how exporting data from our platform works.

This used to be a one-size-fits-all solution—everyone would get every single data point—but we wanted you to have the power to select the data fields you see as relevant.

So our new download flow allows you to pick the data points you want, set the order of the fields in the file, and gives you a preview of the file before you click download.

Also, we’ve added a new format for this file download: JSON!

Data usage tracking & dashboard

This point goes together with our new usage-based pricing model. We’ve created a dashboard view that shows you how much data you’ve downloaded and integrated with your CRM.

This is to ensure you know how much data is being used and control who is using it, so it’s easier to plan ahead.

New datasets

Alongside the renewed UI, we also launched some new datasets.

Financial data

We’ve adopted a new model to display financial data for companies in the Nordics (Business-ID-based database).

The old model contained over 400 incoherent and unmaintained fields, with duplicates, poor documentation, and poor naming.

The new structured model contains around 100 carefully picked financial items. The Financial Statement is also divided into segments to make navigation to fields of interest easier.

We’ve also added definitions for each field to ensure they’re understandable. This is especially useful for the included KPIs, as you’ll be able to see how these values have been calculated.

Decision-maker data

Note: This data is currently only available for Finnish and Swedish companies.

You’ve been asking; we’ve been listening. Sure, it might have taken a few years to get it done, but it’s finally here: Decision-maker contact data.

As you may know, our database already includes contact information. However, we’ve decided to invest more of our efforts into gathering the type of contact data you actually need, meaning we’ll have more and better contact data going forward.

What does that decision-maker data entail exactly? Ideally:

  • Name
  • Title
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • LinkedIn link

This is human-verified contact data, and we’re following GDPR compliance rules when collecting it, which means it takes a bit more work to get a hold of.

So, currently, we’re focusing on gathering this data for companies with over 10M€ (Finland) or 100MSEK (Sweden) in turnover.

We also cannot guarantee that every decision-maker contact will include a telephone number or email address, but we’ll add as many as possible.

Connectors

Our Connectors allow you to get our data directly in your CRM.

For Business ID data, which means data about companies in Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, we have integrations to:

  • Salesforce
  • HubSpot
  • Dynamics
  • Pipedrive

For Domain data, which refers to data in our global offering, we have integrations to:

  • HubSpot
  • Salesforce

Usage-based pricing

Some feedback we’ve received from customers and prospects is that investing in Vainu can feel like a significant financial commitment. To help alleviate this worry, we’ve adopted a usage-based pricing model for the new platform, which lowers the barrier to entry for trying out data.

Essentially: The less data you use, the less you pay. This means you can try out our data and discover the value it can contribute to your business.

You can read all about our new pricing model on the pricing page.

Try the new Vainu App yourself

That’s it for this release. If reading about our new platform has made you want to try it out, contact your Customer Success person (if you’re already a customer) or request a free trial.

Also, if you have any questions, please drop us a line via our chat. Our support team would be happy to help.
